MARKET WRAP-UP – JULY 31, 2025
The Nigerian equities market continued its bullish run today as the NGX All-Share Index (NGXASI) climbed by 0.42%, pushing the Year-to-Date (YTD) return to a strong 35.55%. The All-Share Index closed at 139,863.52, up from the previous day’s close of 139,278.67.
Trading Volume and Value
However, despite the positive price movement, market activity was subdued. The total volume of shares traded dropped significantly by 88.66%, falling from 847.81 million shares to just 96.10 million shares. Similarly, the market turnover (total value of shares exchanged) saw a sharp drop of 89.31%, plunging from ₦31.23 billion to ₦3.34 billion, across 6,089 deals.
Market Breadth
Market breadth remained negative with 31 stocks advancing against 56 decliners, giving a breadth ratio of 0.55x.
Trading volume rose for 67 companies while it declined for 73 others.

Leading the pack of gainers is UACN, which has surged by 32.95% over five days to close at ₦73.00, and even posted a 10% gain today alone. Other notable performers include:
• Mecure, now at ₦14.45, up 32.08% in five days
• Dangote Sugar at ₦71.15, gaining 24.89%
• SIAML Pension ETF 40 (SIAMLETF40), up 21.00%
