President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the suspension of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) airport cashless payment policy over traffic gridlock and missed flights.

The disclosure was made by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, on Wednesday, noting that the decision was among the resolutions reached at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by the President.

The President’s directive comes just four days after FAAN implemented the cashless policy nationwide beginning March 1.

Once beaten, twice shy. Cashless policy again.. I know the President will never allow any Government agency gives his administration a bad label especially as the general election is approaching. This may form the basis of this immediate suspension of this policy by the President.

Nigeria is yet to be ready or mature for a cashless policy. There are so many things to do and put in place for it to work out .

Nigeria is ready but only that we can not start fully..The government should be doing it gradually till less say 10 Years till all will be fully integrated...
There is no reason for rushing ..They can do both manual and cashless at the same time

If Nigeria is ready it won't take 10 years as you have said. I agree it can be gradually implemented while still making use of the two until it is fully implemented.

FAAN will likely go back to the drawing board to implement a hybrid system—perhaps dedicated "Fast Lanes" for cashless users and "Cash Lanes" for others—rather than a total ban on cash.

Honestly, the idea of going cashless isn’t bad at all, but the implementation seemed too rushed.
Policies like this need proper planning and testing first, especially in busy places like airports where delays can easily cause bigger problems

Exactly. They could even encourage cashless by offering small discounts for those who use it, while still allowing cash payments.
That way people gradually adopt it without creating unnecessary stress.
