Seun Kuti released from police custody
Popular Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, has been released from police custody. Seun Kuti is the son of the late Afrobeat star, Fela Kuti.
This is coming 7 days after he had reported himself at the police station for the offense he committed.
He was released just yesterday on bail. Recall he had reported himself at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, in Yaba, Lagos after he had been invited over the allegations of assault on a police officer.
His lawyers had given a hint of his release yesterday since he had met the conditions for bail.
Some of his friends had been waiting outside and as soon as he stepped out of the station, they began to celebrate as seen in a video online.
Some others had also been waiting for his arrival at his residence.
Recall the reason he was arrested was because he had assaulted a police officer.
The court had ordered that they detain him for 48 hours and be released on bail. This was on the 15th of May, 2023.
But the detention had been prolonged by 4 days so that the police will conclude their investigation.
He had been taken to the court yesterday but the court didn't sit so it was adjoined but his people began a protest for his release. They were protesting for them to free Seun Kuti.
He has now finally been released from police custody to the delight of his friends and family.
